It is an unique outreach institution run by Social Change And Development (SCAD) with the support of Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR), New Delhi, for the development of farm and home through technology assessment, refinement, demonstration and dissemination to extension functionaries, farmers, farm women and rural youth. SCAD KVK was started in 1995 at vagaikulam, Thoothukudi District with an vision of enriching the farming community to make farming and it’s allied occupations productive and remunerative through scientific and systematic approach. KVK's are playing a vital role in diseminating the latest technologies developed from the agricultural university, colleges and Reginal Research Stations to the rural farming communities. SCAD - KVK is also fully equipped with modern facilities to cater the multi- dimensional requirements of the farmers.

       SCAD-KVK has all the modern and latest infrastructural facilities necessary for research, demonstration, training, disemination, data compilation etc. Spacious halls, class rooms, Conference rooms and well furnished classes with modern audio visual aids, a well stocked library, laboratories, with all the latest equipments, computer room with Broadband e-Connectivity are available in the kendra. The services available at the kendra will satisfy the most demanding trainees, trainers and technical experts.
